Sister backtracks on testimony in Vader trial

EDMONTON - Travis Vader's youngster sister has taken the witness stand and backtracked on statements she made to police investigators back in 2010.

The Crown now wants permission to treat Bobbi Jo Vader as a hostile witness.

Court was told that back in 2010, Bobbi Jo told investigators her older brother showed up with guns at a friend's house one day after the disappearance of Lyle and Marie McCann.

But on Thursday, she said she was confused and on drugs at the time and never personally saw any guns.

Justice Denny Thomas is expected to rule on the Crown's request on Friday.

Travis Vader is charged with two counts of first-degree murder in the deaths of the seniors, both in their late 70s, who disappeared while on a road trip to British Columbia.

Their bodies have never been found. …
