Market 'In a Frenzy' over Virtual Reality

TAIPEI, Taiwan -- Taipei City's Department of Economic Development has said that interest in virtual reality (VR) technology has reached a point of "frenzy," with manufacturers now aggressively investing in new consumer-ready immersive reality products.

Lin Chung-chieh ([...]), commissioner of the Department of Economic Development of Taipei City, made an appearance yesterday at a promotional event for VR products and tested one of the two HTC Vive demo systems set up at the event.

He said that Virtual Reality has developed slowly and matured over the past several years to reach a point of global interest in the technology dubbed the "virtual reality frenzy."

Lin said that all major industry manufacturers intend to continue investing capital in the second and third quarters of this year to develop more sophisticated VR products and services. …
