Nevada Becomes 17th US State to Sign Driver's License Exchange Pact

TAIPEI, Taiwan -- Taiwan has signed an agreement with the U.S. state of Nevada to allow citizens from both sides to exchange their home driver's license for a local one, the Foreign Ministry has announced.

The agreement signed on Wednesday between the state of Nevada and Taiwan's representative office in San Francisco is aimed at making the lives of Taiwanese businessmen, students and scholars living in Nevada more convenient and vice versa.

Under the agreement, R.O.C. citizens with legal residence in Nevada can obtain a local license by presenting their Taiwanese license and related documents without having to complete a road test.

Nevada citizens with more than one year's legal residency in Taiwan can enjoy the same treatment.

The agreement is the first of its kind that the state has signed with a foreign government, and is Taiwan's 17th with a U. …
