TAIPEI, Taiwan -- The National Immigration Agency (NIA, [...]), in cooperation with the Department of Civil Affairs of the Taipei City Government, hosted an activity to make vegetarian rice dumplings on June 4, for new immigrants to celebrate the Dragon Boat Festival that began on Thursday, June 9, according to a NIA press release.

Acting NIA Director-General Ho Jung-tsun ([...]) was present at the New Immigrants Hall in Taipei's Wanhua District to preside over the activity. Ho happily acted as a teacher, demonstrating for new immigrants the skill of packing rice dumplings, a festive food enjoyed annually during the Dragon Boat Festival in Taiwan.

Ho said that before packing the rice dumplings, large bamboo leaves should be cleaned with water the night before, so that the dumplings can be packed inside the leaves. …
