Woman encouraged teen to have sex with hubby

REGINA - A Saskatchewan woman has been sentenced to one year in jail for encouraging a young girl to have sex with her husband and watching it happen.

According to court documents, the crime took place in 2010, but a publication ban prevents publishing where it happened and on the people's identities.

The woman, who was 37 at the time, and her husband were temporarily staying at another person's house when she invited a 13-year-old girl who had come to visit a friend to have sex with her then 23-year-old husband.

The court documents say both the husband and wife knew the girl was under 16.

In his decision, Justice Michael Megaw said he didn't view it as a major sexual assault, but called it a significant offence.

"The victim here was an extremely young girl who was exposed to sexual intercourse at the behest of the accused. Without her invitation, this offence would not have happened," he wrote.

The woman pleaded guilty to a charge of invitation to sexual touching, while a charge of sexual interference was stayed. …
