Blue Jays Encarnacion suspended one game

TORONTO - Blue Jays designated hitter Edwin Encarnacion was suspended for one game by Major League Baseball on Sunday and fined an undisclosed amount for making contact with an umpire.

Encarnacion was ejected for the first time this season for arguing with Carapazza after being called out on strikes to end the first inning of Friday's 19-inning, 2-1 loss to Cleveland. Encarnacion made contact with Carapazza's left shoulder after being ejected.

"I was waiting for it," said Encarnacion after Sunday's 17-1 rout of Cleveland. "I mean I knew something was going to happen because supposedly I bumped into him so I don't know what's going to happen."

Encarnacion's suspension was scheduled to be served Sunday afternoon as the Blue Jays concluded their four-game series with Cleveland. …
