Sentencing delayed in abduction, sex assault case

CALGARY - Two Calgary brothers who admitted to kidnapping and sexually assaulting a teenage girl two years ago will have to wait a little longer to be sentenced.

Crown and defence lawyers have asked for more time to review the mental-health records of Corey Manyshots, who is 25, and his younger sibling Cody, who is 21.

In November 2014, the pair approached the 17-year-old girl at a bus stop, forced her into an alley and sexually assaulted her.

She was then taken to their home, where the brothers sexually assaulted her 15 times until she was able to escape about eight hours later.

The brothers pleaded guilty last October to several charges, including sexual assault causing bodily harm, kidnapping, uttering threats and robbery.

The Crown is seeking a sentence of 12 years for each brother, while the defence suggests a six-year sentence for Cody and two years for Corey. …
