Schools to Teach Students Labor Rights for 1st Time

TAIPEI, Taiwan -- The Ministry of Labor (MOL, [...]) said yesterday that labor rights should be taught to children when they are young, not when they enter the workplace.

The MOE will hold events nationwide on labor rights at elementary schools, junior high schools and senior high schools from September.

The MOE said that it would create new teaching material about labor rights. The MOE hopes that through varied, flexible and lively methods, it can promote labor rights to every student as well as teachers and parents.

Theater troupes will visit junior high schools and senior high schools to pass on labor awareness through their performances.

The MOE will also make picture books about labor rights available and will hold nationwide debate competitions on labor rights, the ministry said.
