SHUBENACADIE, N.S. - Naomi Ko shot a final round of 72 on Friday to capture Canadian junior girls golf championship.

The Victoria native entered the day in a tie for first, but pulled away from the field with back-to-back birdies on holes two and three followed by another on the fifth hole.

"I got off to a really good start on the front nine," said Ko. "The wind wasn't really in effect but as I got to the back nine it really started picking up. I really had to adjust and learn from yesterday's mistakes. I was striking the ball well and I think that was one of the key things today. Putting on the back nine not so good but it got the job done."

The 18-year-old, who attends North Carolina State University, had three bogeys on the back nine to finish the tournament at 5-under 283. …
