TAIPEI, Taiwan -- Premier Lin Chuan tapped Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) Legislator Wellington Koo ([...]) to lead a committee tasked with the handling of illicit party assets on Tuesday.

Koo, who was tasked with the job by President Tsai Ing-wen and Premier Lin, said that, while the position was not in his career plan, he had "no room to say no" and will do his best to lead the committee.

The committee, formed under the Executive Yuan in accordance with the Act Governing the Handling of Ill-gotten Properties by Political Parties and Their Affiliate Organizations ([...]) passed by the Legislative Yuan on July 25, will comprise 11 to 13 committee members, including the minister and the vice minister.

Koo pointed out that the president told him that he is a good candidate because he is well versed in the law and has extensive knowledge of the party assets act. …
