Taipei Zoo's 'Pokemon Go' Map 'May Violate Copyright'

TAIPEI, Taiwan -- Mighty Media Co, Ltd. ([...]), an agent of "Pokemon Go" in Taiwan, said Thursday that the Taipei Zoo's "Pokemon Go" map violates copyright laws.

Mighty Media said the Taipei Zoo and Kaohsiung Bus Company made the "Pokemon Go" map without asking permission from Japan's "Pokemon Go" or Mighty Media.

The Taipei Zoo said it will take action on the issue and will remain in contact with Mighty Media. Because the Taipei Zoo has not yet received an official document from the company, the zoo will consult with its legal counsels to assess allegations, said Taipei Zoo representatives.

Mighty Media is the only company that represents Japan's "Pokemon Go" in Taiwan. Because "Pokemon Go" is currently seeing a major surge in popularity, sales of "Pokemon" products have also spiked.
