WAYWAYSEECAPPO FIRST NATION, Man. - Residents of Waywayseecappo First Nation are picking up the pieces after a tornado tore through the community, destroying one home and damaging seven others.

Community leaders say no one was hurt during Monday night's storm but between 60 and 70 people were displaced.

Fourteen people have moved into a hotel in nearby Russell with the help of Red Cross volunteers while others are staying with family and friends.

Cailin Hodder with the Red Cross says this summer has been a very busy one for their volunteers, who have attended several severe weather events on the Prairies and spent weeks helping out after a wildfire forced the evacuation of Fort McMurray, Alta.

Hodder says a lot of volunteers have also been working to support Syrian refugee arrivals in Manitoba. …
