Water Quality Nearby FPG Plant Improving: Vietnam

Three months after Formosa Plastic Group's (FPG, [...]) plant in Ha Tinh, Vietnam was found to cause large-scale pollution, the Vietnam government said water quality along the country's central coastline now meets safety standards.

In April, water pollution caused by FPG's steel plant in Ha Tinh Province resulted a mass fish die-off along Vietnam's coastline. Vietnam's resource and environment departments yesterday released a report on the water quality.

The report shows water pollution issues have been gradually improving. The water quality index now meets with safety standards and the local ecosystem is being restored. There are fish living in the affected region.

Scientists involved with the study said the water is safe and people can engage in activities such as scuba diving and fish farming. …
