The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) on Tuesday rebutted a BBC report that suggested Foreign Minister David Lee ([...]) recently made a rare stopover in Canada before visiting Central America and the Caribbean region.

MOFA spokeswoman Eleanor Wang told The China Post that the Chinese-language report was "incorrect."

A source close to the matter told The China Post that the BBC report was "totally ungrounded and fictional."

The report, written by a Panama-based contributing reporter and published on the BBC's Chinese language news site, said that during a recent visit to Guatemala and Nicaragua on Aug. 19, the minister chose to make a stopover in Canada, instead of making a transit stop in the U.S.
