Transit union to meet and discuss city offer

SASKATOON - A meeting will be held Sunday by the Amalgamated Transit Union in Saskatoon to see if the city's latest contract offer should be taken to the membership for a vote.

President Jim Yakubowski says no job action will be taken until after that meeting, depending on the outcome.

The city and the ATU have been able to agree on wages, but have not agreed on the pension plan.

Yakubowski says his union is willing to accept most of the pension plan put forward to them four years ago, minus city contribution caps and a dispute resolution mechanism.

Yakubowski says the pension plan states that the city's contributions would be capped at nine per cent, and would only change to 9. …
