Montreal quarterback Caron named RSEQ MVP

Montreal Carabins quarterback Samuel Caron was named the RSEQ most valuable player on Friday, becoming the conference's nominee for the Hec Crighton Award.

Caron led the RSEQ and ranked third across Canada by completing 68.5 per cent of his passes (155 of 222) for 1,863 yards. On his way to tossing nine touchdown passes on the season, the 23-year-old student athlete also made good decisions, throwing a league-low four interceptions on the year.

Caron also rushed for 300 yards on 46 carries, good enough to sit third on the Carabins and ninth in the RSEQ. He also scored four touchdowns along the ground.

In his first start of the season Caron passed for 320 yards with one TD pass in a huge 24-21 road win over Laval. …
