SASKATOON - A corroded pipe is believed to have been the cause of a water-quality problem that has cancelled surgeries at Saskatoon City Hospital.

The hospital was put under a boil-water order late Monday, which means that no tap water in the hospital can be consumed.

Scheduled surgeries and other procedures have been postponed until further notice.

The Saskatoon Health Region says a floor-by-floor flush of the hospital's water system has been done in line with public health guidelines.

Test samples are being taken and the boil-water order will be lifted when two consecutive results come back clean.

The health region says the earliest the order could be lifted is Saturday. …
