NAT106 - (Drilling-Forecast) (EXTENDED) CALGARY. x-25s. The Canadian Association of Oilwell Drilling Contractors says it expects a modest increase in drilling activity in Canada next year. The group's president, Mark Scholz, says about 47-hundred wells will be drilled, up 31 per cent from this year. But he says that's still down considerably from 2014, when oil prices were much higher. TAG: The drilling group says direct and indirect industry employment should rise to just over 20-thousand in 2017. That would still represent a 63 per cent drop from 2014.
