Forgiveness sought for fatal stabbing

PELICAN NARROWS, Sask. - An eight-year prison sentence has been handed down to a northern Saskatchewan man who admitted to killing a person he considered his best friend since childhood.

Dale Morin, who is 22, was sentenced Tuesday after pleading guilty to manslaughter in the February stabbing death of Cecil Dorion.

An agreed statement of facts read in court says the men were at a party in Morin's home in Pelican Narrows, where the 22-year-old victim was later found stabbed 10 times in the accused man's bedroom.

Court also heard that Dorion had earlier tried to stab his friend.

Morin called 911 and later told someone he had done something wrong and would be going to jail, but it was three weeks before he turned himself in. …
