NAT106 - (WEA-No-Ice-Road) DAWSON CITY, YT. x-19s. The roughly 100 residents of West Dawson, across the Yukon River from Dawson City are searching for solutions because the river has not frozen completely this fall. Usually, an ice road connects West Dawson residents to the town about 500 kilometres north of Whitehorse. But above-freezing temperatures and other unique conditions mean a patch of open water stands where a winter ice road would normally cover the barely 400-metre stretch. West Dawson resident Jesse Cook says people are coming up with different ways to get to town for services and supplies. ("..to town.") (SOURCE:CKRW)
