NAT002 - (Pipeline-Decision) OTTAWA. x-18s. The federal government has killed the Northern Gateway pipeline project, but has given the go ahead to two other pipeline projects -- Kinder Morgan's proposal to triple the capacity of its Trans Mountain pipeline from Alberta to Burnaby, B-C, and the Enbridge project to replace and expand the Line 3 pipeline from Alberta to Wisconsin. Trudeau says his government has not and will not be swayed by political arguments, whether they are local, regional or national. ("..into the future.") (SOURCE:The Canadian Press) -- TAG: The decision to close the book on Northern Gateway comes as no surprise. Trudeau also says he will soon bring in legislation to make a moratorium on crude oil tanker shipping on B-C's north coast the law. --

NAT003 - (Pipeline-Decision) (EXTENDED) OTTAWA. x-26s. Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has approved two major oil pipeline expansions, including the deeply controversial Trans Mountain line through suburban Vancouver, while maintaining his government remains on course to meet its international climate commitments. Environmental groups say it's just the beginning of a new war against Ottawa. Trudeau says he's aware the fight is on, but adds his approach is a balanced one. ("..climate leadership.") He also announced a green light for Enbridge's lesser-known 7.5-billion-dollar Line 3 pipeline replacement and expansion from Alberta to Wisconsin. Interim Conservative leader Rona Ambrose says she doubts the Trans Mountain project will actually go ahead. ("..being built.") (SOURCE:The Canadian Press) -- TAG: Trudeau says the Liberals are under no illusions that the decision will be bitterly disputed by a number of people and groups across the country. --
