WINNIPEG. x-10s. The head of the Manitoba Metis Federation says the province's health minister has told him that funding for a preventative health program is being cut. The program paid for five staff who work on community wellness programs out of Brandon, and who also do research that allows the federation and health authorities to find solutions to Metis health problems. M-M-F president David Chartrand (SHAHR'-trand) says pulling the plug now will cost the province and taxpayers more money down the road.
