Hearing called after alleged misconduct by cop

VICTORIA - British Columbia's police-complaint commissioner will hold a public hearing into allegations of professional misconduct involving a transit officer at a SkyTrain station in Vancouver.

The Office of the Police Complaint Commissioner says in a news release that two allegations were made against Const. Edgar Diaz on August 11, 2011, and that one of them was proven through a disciplinary process.

Deputy commissioner Rollie Woods said Friday in an interview that disciplinary measures resulted in a suspension and training on the use of force.

The office says in the release that during the investigation, other allegations were raised and investigated.

"The police complaint commissioner has determined that a public hearing is necessary in the public interest in relation to both allegations of professional misconduct," it says. …
