NAT079 - (Sask-Oil-Spill) SASKATOON. x-16s. The Saskatchewan Environmental Society is calling for more frequent inspections of pipelines in the province, especially those near waterways. The provincial government introduced amendments to the Pipelines Act last week which would establish new inspection audit powers and raise the penalty provision to as much as 500-thousand dollars a day. Society board member Peter Prebble says the province also needs to ensure pipelines crossing waterways are updated with the latest technology. ("..the line.") (SOURCE:CJWW)
