EDMONTON. x-10s. Alberta Human Services Minister Irfan Sabir (UR'-fan SAH'-beer) is oppositon rejecting calls for his resignation over delays in the case of a girl who died in government care. Sabir says he is striking a all-party panel to resolve problems that have plagued the childcare system and led to tragedies such as the one that befell a four-year-old named Serenity.

TAG: Serenity died over two years ago from a massive brain injury. She had bruises and signs of sexual assault. The case has dragged on ever since and has been punctuated by delays and secrecy. No one has been charged.
