NAT105 - (UN-Syria) NEW YORK. x-12s. The United Nations' director of humanitarian relief director says Aleppo's fall has hardly ended the suffering of the Syrian people. Thousands of opposition fighters evacuated the besieged city this week after more than four years of brutal fighting and bombardment. The surrender allowed President Bashar Assad's forces to retake full control of the city for the first time since 2011.
