(Doctor-Killed)

Police are searching a river north of Toronto for evidence as they investigate the killing of a family doctor whose strangled and beaten body was found in a suitcase at the side of a road.

Detectives say officers are looking for keys, a purse and cellphone belonging to Dr. Elana Fric-Shamji in the Humber River and near a bridge where her body was found.

The 40-year-old woman, who worked at the Scarborough Hospital, was last seen on the evening of November 30th and her mother reported her missing the next day.

Her husband, 40-year-old Dr. Mohammed Shamji, has been charged with first-degree murder. (The Canadian Press)

(School-Threat)

O-P-P say a 16-year-old boy has been arrested after a threat was made on Twitter involving a central Ontario school board.

All elementary and secondary schools with the Trillium Lakelands District School Board -- about 50 schools in Kawartha Lakes, Haliburton County, and Muskoka -- were put into a hold and secure as a result of the threat.

Police say the hold and secure was lifted after about two hours and there is no further threat to school safety.

Investigators say it's believed the Gravenhurst boy who was arrested was responsible for the tweet. (CKLY)

(Counterfeit-Merchandise)

A Mississauga man faces multiple charges after police say 16 trucks of counterfeit merchandise was seized from three businesses.

Police say an investigation was launched after they received complaints about recently purchased merchandise causing skin irritations and products overheating.

It's alleged the merchandise was traced to Lucky's Import and Wholesale, Beach GLO and Jazz Casuals, and police say about 2.5 million dollars worth of fake goods was seized.

Forty-six-year-old Hock Chan faces charges including possession of property obtained by crime, fraud over five-thousand dollars and passing off wares, while two other people face immigration-related charges. …
