MATTEO Darmian does not know why he has not played more minutes for United this season under Jose Mourinho.

Darmian has started the Reds' last three matches against Burnley, Fenerbahce and Swansea due to the absence of the injured Antonio Valencia, having managed only two starts before then - both in the Europa League.

Inter have been heavily linked with a move for the 26-year-old Italy fullback, although Frank de Boer's recent dismissal could see their interest cool.

It is understood any United players determined to leave in January will have to ask Mourinho, and Louis van Gaal signing Darmian might have to delay making a decision on his future until the summer.
