PEP Guardiola would rather be sacked than change his style of football at City.

And the Blues boss launched a passionate defence of his philosophy as the Blues head into a must-win clash with Watford at the Etihad Stadium tonight.

Guardiola has come in for criticism after a run of four wins in the last 15 games which has seen City slip to fourth place, seven points behind Chelsea.

But he point-blank refused to countenance an overhaul of his system of playing out from the back which has led to a series of costly mistakes.

He did admit he has to adapt to English football, and to tweak aspects of his game, but when asked would he compromise his principles, the answer was emphatic.

"No. No way," he said. "We are going to play the way I feel, making the mistakes, and improve the mistakes. …
