Arrest Made after Brutal Knife Attack on Woman

A MAN has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder following an horrific knife attack on a woman.

The victim, who is in her 30s, was walking along Mayfield Road, Whalley Range near to the Hare Krishna Centre, when she was attacked from behind.

She was taken to hospital after suffering knife wounds to her head and face, as well as a fractured skull and bleed to the brain. Her injuries, although serious, are not life-threatening.

Police have now arrested a man in connection with the incident, which happened shortly before 10am on Wednesday, December 14.

Officers are also keen to speak to two men who dropped off another man with an arm injury at Manchester Royal Infirmary on Wednesday morning.

Det Insp Mark Astbury, of GMP's City Centre team, said: "A 32-yearold man is currently in custody after being arrested on suspicion of attempted murder. …
