The topic of agriculture caused some sparks to fly at the French-language debate of the 13 federal Tory leadership candidates.

Steven Blaney took aim at Maxime Bernier over his promise to get rid of the supply-and-demand system in agriculture. Blaney said farmers work hard while Bernier likes to go jogging.

But Bernier defended his record as a cabinet minister in Stephen Harper's former Tory government even though he was not successful in getting the supply-and-demand system abolished.

He said he is the only M-P in Ottawa who stands up to promote the interests of consumers. (The Canadian Press)

Vaisman says General Mills and Grain Millers are among the groups providing financial support to the Prairie Organic Grain Initiative.

She says farmers are showing interest in field days and other training events to transition to organic crop production. (CKRM)
