WINNIPEG. x-07s. Manitoba's children's advocate says the government should look at supporting older people who have aged out of the child welfare system. Darlene MacDonald told a legislature committee today instead of cutting off supports at age 21, the government should help young adults for another four years.

TAG: MacDonald is an independent adviser to the government who speaks on behalf of children in care. A recent report by her counterpart in Ontario says governments save money in the long run by offering supports to age 25, through increased employment income tax and reduced demand for social assistance.
