WINNIPEG. x-16s. A longtime and senior Manitoba New Democrat says he is leaving the party after 40 years and looking to set up a new one. Eric Robinson, who held a legislature seat for 23 years and served as deputy premier before the N-D-P's election loss last year, says the party has lost touch with indigenous peoples and people of colour.

TAG: No one from N-D-P caucus or party headquarters was immediately available to respond Robinson's comments late Friday night. The party has previously touted several steps it has taken on indigenous issues, such as economic benefit agreements for hydro development and new all-weather roads to remote communities.
