P02 - (MMIW-Inquiry) OTTAWA. x-15s. The commissioners appointed more than seven months ago to oversee the national inquiry into Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls held their first news conference today in Ottawa. Chief commissioner Marion Buller says the inquiry is still expected to begin its work by spring, but doesn't have a list of participants compiled just yet. ("..they will participate.") TAG: The inquiry has been plagued by delays and personnel problems. Its director of communications, Michael Hutchinson, was recently fired after only a few months of service. Families of victims have said they have been left in the dark by the commission, and have been critical of the inquiry's terms of reference that stipulate it will focus primarily on violence prevention and not police conduct and practices. …
