Kev Picks Up Top Award for Second Year on the Trot

KEVIN De Bruyne has pipped Eden Hazard to land the title of "Best Belgian Player in a Foreign League" for the second year running.

The City midfielder received the accolade for 2016, in which his goal sent the Blues into the quarter-final of the Champions League for the first time, and another saw off Barcelona in this season's group stage.

De Bruyne won the competition easily, polling 278 votes to Chelsea star Hazard's 164, with Atletico Madrid winger Yannick Carrasco in third.

Hazard has had a superb season for Chelsea, but the award was judged on the entire calendar year.

Premier League stars Toby Alderweireld, Romelu Lukaku, Thibaut Courtois, Michy Batshuayi and Mousa Dembele also made the top ten.

De Bruyne received the award from Belgium assistant coach Thierry Henry and told the audience "I'm just trying to do my thing" after thanking his fiancee Michele and baby Mason. …
