Named, Man Found Dead by Water Taxi Skipper

A MAN whose body was found in a canal in Old Trafford after it became tangled in the propeller of a boat has been named as Ian Nally.

Mr Nally, who had been missing for almost five weeks, was found dead in the Bridgewater Canal, off Trafford Wharf Road, on Friday.

His body was found caught in the propeller of a water taxi at around 9.20am. When the vessel's engine cut out, the skipper pulled the engine out of the water and saw Mr Nally's body.

Police have not yet revealed how he died, but detectives say the circumstances are not believed to be suspicious. A file has been passed to the coroner.

Mr Nally, 52, from Stretford, was last seen at White City Retail Park - just a couple of hundred yards away from where he was found dead - on Saturday, January 7. …
