WINNIPEG. x-08s. Another seven people have been arrested by R-C-M-P after crossing the border from the United States into Manitoba. That's on top of 21 people arrested over the weekend. The Manitoba Interfaith Immigration Council has been helping the refugees. The group's executive director, Rita Chahal, says the number of border-crossers is likely to remain high.

TAG: There has been a surge of people seeking asylum and crossing the border into Manitoba, Quebec and British Columbia. Many of the recent arrivals are originally from African nations and have been living in the U-S, and are worried about a crackdown on immigrants there.
