VANCOUVER. x-17s. Vancouver Coastal Health is opening an on-demand addiction treatment clinic in the midst of the opioid overdose crisis that has killed over one-thousand people in B-C since January 2016. The Downtown Eastside Connections clinic will offer opioid replacement therapy and social support in a community hardest-hit by the crisis. Vancouver Coastal Health's associate medical director, Dr. Ron Joe, says unlike other treatment programs that require patients to abstain from substance use before they receive help, this clinic will have no such barriers.
