NAT142 - (Prairies-Mumps) WINNIPEG. x-10s. Manitoba Health says there have been 176 confirmed cases of mumps since September and up to last Friday. Most of the initial cases were university students living in Winnipeg or involved in sports, but mumps cases are now being seen in all ages and throughout the province. Doctor Richard Rusk, Manitoba's medical officer of health for communicable diseases, says vaccinations have helped. ("..severe outcomes.") (SOURCE:The Canadian Press)

TAG: There have not been any cases in Saskatchewan so far this year. However, Doctor Denise Werker, Saskatchewan's deputy chief medical officer, says she's concerned that it's just a matter of time because the virus is showing up in Alberta too.
