(Edmonton-Warehouse-Stabbing)

The Edmonton man convicted of first-degree murder in the stabbing deaths of two co-workers in a bloody attack at a grocery warehouse faces two automatic life sentences.

Jayme Pasieka (JAY'-mee PAH'-see-kah) was also found guilty of four counts of attempted murder and four counts of aggravated assault.

Pasieka showed no emotion as the jury declared the 10 guilty verdicts.

Loblaws employees, some wearing blue hoodies with the corporation's logo, sat in quiet support of their colleagues who were killed or wounded in the attack three years ago. (19)

An Alberta woman who admitted killing her nine-year-old daughter begged for forgiveness at her sentencing hearing.

Fifty-year-old Laura Coward pleaded guilty last month to the second-degree murder of Amber Lucius.

She was arrested two days after the girl was reported missing in late August 2014.

She was standing outside a burned truck in which her daughter's body was discovered.

Coward is facing an automatic life sentence with no chance of parole for at least 10 years.

A hearing to set parole eligibility is set for next Friday. (19)

The prime minister says Canada's judicial system must do better to recognize the rights of sexual assault victims.

Justin Trudeau was speaking in Vancouver when asked about the acquittal of a taxi driver in Halifax charged with sexually assaulting a young woman in his cab.

While steering clear of talking specifically about the case, Trudeau said changes are needed to protect women.

There is growing anger after Judge Gregory Lenehan's decision.
