MANATEE COUNTY

DUETTE -- The names of the two victims in Saturday's plane crash will be released after both individuals have been positively identified, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.

A twin-engine plane crashed Saturday afternoon off State Road 37 just north of State Road 62 in northeast Manatee County, sparking a brush fire.

Emergency personnel responded to the crash scene at around 1:30 p.m., and investigators discovered the bodies of two people at the scene.

The plane reportedly took off from Sarasota-Bradenton International Airport at about 1:15 p.m. Witness David Hayman was in his backyard when he said he saw the plane go "straight down," and tried to help the victims, but the wreckage was engulfed in flames by the time he could reach it. …
