Acclaimed Ojibiway author Richard Wagamese (WAH'-gah-meez) is being remembered not only for his work, but for his kindness in helping younger writers tell their own stories. Wagamese died yesterday at the age of 61. Wab Kinew, a writer and member of the Manitoba Legislature, calls Wagamese his mentor, and says he helped show the everyday life of a First Nations man in mainstream, modern society.
