Nick Suriano's dream of an NCAA wrestling title will wait another year.

On Wednesday, the former Bergen Catholic superstar and four-time state champion was pulled from the 125-pound bracket at the NCAA Championships in St. Louis because of a lingering ankle injury he suffered Feb. 19. The Penn State freshman had been seeded third at the NCAAs, but he had not wrestled since suffering what was termed a sprained ankle in the Nittany Lions' final dual match against Oklahoma State.

With the Nittany Lions, the Paramus native posted a 16-1 record on the mat his season, with his only loss coming to Thomas Gilman of Iowa, 3-2. Gilman, the returning national runner-up, is undefeated and ranked No. 1 at 125 pounds. Suriano was ranked No. 2 in his weight class. The loss was his first on-the-mat defeat since the summer before his freshman year in high school. …
