TAMPA, Fla. -- Matt Holliday clubbed his third home run of the Grapefruit League season, a three-run shot that boosted the Yankees to a 9-3 win Monday afternoon against the Nationals at West Palm Beach.

Rookie shortstop Gleyber Torres added a two-run double, while Brett Gardner had a two-run single and Rob Refsnyder (double) and Ronald Torreyes (single) added RBI hits. And rookie outfielder Billy McKinney continued to impress with two more hits in two at-bats, raising his spring average to .450.

But right-handed starter Michael Pineda turned in his first dull effort of spring, yanked after throwing 33 of his 46 total pitches in Monday's second inning. Pineda was charged with three runs on one hit and two walks in 12/3 innings. He had one strikeout on Monday after striking out eight batters over five scoreless innings in his previous start. …
