Porzingis Hoping to Grow as Leader

LOS ANGELES - Kristaps Porzingis hopes to be playing more of a leadership role with the Knicks next season.

Porzingis, who was back in the lineup Monday after sitting out Thursday's game with a left thigh contusion, has spoken out more and more about his frustration with the Knicks' struggles this season. Sunday, he told reporters at practice that he hopes to grow as a leader next season.

"That will happen naturally. That will happen," Porzingis said. "I will keep growing as a player. I will keep trying to become what I want to become and that will happen. I'm just here now ... all I'm focused on is improving my game and learning how to be a leader."

Knicks coach Jeff Hornacek believes that could come in the third season for the 21-year-old Latvian native.

"I think probably a little more on the vocal side," Hornacek said. …
