P04 - (Airplane-Electronics-Ban) OTTAWA. x-14s. Transport Minister Marc Garneau says no decision has been made yet on whether Canada will follow the U-S and the U-K in banning devices larger than phones in airplane cabins on flights coming from certain countries. Garneau says the federal government is serious about the security of transportation. ("..in due course.") (SOURCE: The Canadian Press)

TAG: The U-S ban applies to "any phones, laptops or tablets larger than a normal-sized mobile or smartphone" inside the aircraft cabin. It targets certain flights originating in eight Muslim-majority countries, while Britain's ban applies to six countries -- Turkey, Lebanon, Jordan, Egypt, Tunisia and Saudi Arabia.
