NAT065 - (AS-Australia-Cyclone) (NOT FOR ONLINE USE) CANBERRA, Australia. x-09s. Cyclone Debbie slammed into Australia's tropical northeast coast today. The Category 4 storm made landfall in a resort area of the Queensland coast. Debbie is packing wind gusts up to 257 kilometres per hour, and has damaged homes and knocked out power to 50-thousand homes. Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull spoke on the floor of Australia's Parliament about storm preparations. ("..and recovery.")
