Hospital Issues Apology and Vows to Learn Lessons

THE trust which runs the flagship Royal Manchester Children's Hospital has apologised after failures led to the death of Kayden Urmston-Bancroft.

The hospital insisted that it had learned lessons in the wake of the child's death - but did not address concerns raised by a whistleblowing medic about potentially dangerous standards.

The offered condolences Kayden's Hospital A spokesman for the trust said: "The hospital has offered its sincere condolences to Kayden's family, and the chief executive has personally written to the family.

"The trust has carried out a comprehensive incident investigation into the circumstances of Kayden's death and the actions from the report are already being implemented to ensure any failings are not repeated.

"Great emphasis is placed on maintaining an ethic of openness and transparency across all CMFT's operations so that any incidents involving patient care are thoroughly investigated, and any lessons learnt acted upon to constantly improve the level of safety to patients. …
