(Ont-Electric-Vehicles)

Ontario's plan to have a network of nearly 500 electric vehicle charging stations up and running by the end of this month has hit a speed bump.

The province says only about two-thirds of the stations will be live by Friday, while the rest won't be in place until fall.

Transportation Minister Steven Del Duca says technical issues and permit processes are at least part of the reason for the delay as the province works with two dozen private and public-sector partners to install the chargers.

(Dead-Boy-Parole)

A parole board has decided to allow a Toronto man convicted of killing his son in a horrific case of child abuse to temporarily leave prison while supervised, to perform community service.

Fifty-one-year-old Tony Dooley has been granted a series of temporary escorted absences over six months from a facility in Gravenhurst where he is serving a life sentence.

He was denied full parole last year, partly because he had never participated in escorted absences, which allow authorities to see how inmates behave outside prison.

Dooley and his wife were convicted of second-degree murder in 2002 in the death of seven-year-old Randal Dooley. (The Canadian Press)

(Picton-Water-Emergency)

A water treatment plant in Prince Edward County has resumed operations after being shut down yesterday.

While officials say water from the Picton-Bloomfield Water Plant is safe to drink, residents are being asked to limit their use so that sufficient reserves remain if the plant is shut down again.

A water emergency was declared yesterday as a precaution after a partially submerged barge leaked contaminants into Picton Bay.

Officials say about 11-hundred litres of fuel remain in the vessel in a double-walled tank while most of the leaked material is expected to evaporate. …
