Square comes to the UK RUNNING one global company would be more than enough for most people. But Jack Dorsey, co-founder and CEO of Twitter, is, as they say, not most people.

The payment system Square He combines his role running Twitter with being CEO of Square, a company he also founded.

Square is a card payment processing system, and, some eight years after it launched in the US, it's coming over here. It already operates in Japan and Australia.

It's essentially aimed at small traders who need to take card payments face-to-face, but don't want to get involved with the complexity the big players in the market bring.

Square users buy a simple Pounds 39 card reader that syncs with a smartphone app, and pay a 1.7% fee on each transaction.

Dorsey was over in the UK this week for the launch, and showed no signs of stress given his dual role.

Let's hope launching Square doesn't distracting him from the job of pushing Twitter ever forwards.
